My best friend

My best friend is one of the most fun-loving people I have ever known. She always finds amusing things to do at any time of the day, on any day of the week. She  never waits until the weekend to get pleasure from her free time activities. She enjoys herself at meetings, parties or concerts without exception. It is not a difficult task for her to find somebody to go out with. She immediately gets enjoyment from gathering together with buddies, relatives and even acquaintances. She is for sure really outgoing.

Having a good time is her purpose. As a matter of fact, she tends to be in charge of organizing events, such as fancy dress parties, which she does enjoy! Every birthday, every Christmas and New Year´s Eve is tremendously hilarious if she organizes it. Her friends attend all events she invites them to, since they know they are going to be pure entertainment. If things turn out to be dull, she will actually feel disappointed and in a bad mood.

She loves having fun at all times. She goes on holidays everywhere she has the possibility to go. She treats herself to every concert she feels attracted by. All in all, she tries to avoid unpleasant moments. That´s why she is my best friend... because she enjoys life and I love sharing mine with her!

FATE

Mike couldn´t believe his eyes. He checked the figures once again, hoping he had made a mistake. $25.000 in debt! What could he do?

First, he thought carefully about how he had got to this nasty problem. Since he had been spending several endless nights at the Casino, he had wasted and lost loads of money on betting. Now, he was in trouble.

He paced around his office nervously, trying to make an urgent decision. Eventually, he leaped to the conclusion that one of his employees would have to be made redundant. He confidently picked up the phone and commanded his secretary to arrange a staff meeting for 5 pm.

After informing the worried employees about the unpleasant situation the company was going through, he brought the brief meeting to an end. Sitting at his desk and feeling quite miserable, he phoned Paul, one of the sales representatives. Finally, he gave him the bad news. “You are dismissed”- he told Paul coldly.

Two months later, out of work and bankrupt, Paul left his house carrying a black case. He made his way to the underground station, found a sheltered spot and laid a hat on the ground. He then took his shiny saxophone out of its case and began to play...

The first one is a very nice description of a woman. The variety of adjectives and synonyms makes it a good writing piece, don´t you think?
The second one is a creative narrative. The story is quite sad, let´s say...Anyway, the title is catchy and the description of events is fantastic!

FATE

Quite simple, I love stories with an open ending, the ones that let your imagination fly away, the ones where you have the final saying!

All the best and cheers from London !

As regards the description, I personally find the choice of words too formal sometimes for the kind of writing. Humbly, mind the register when writing such informal pieces! I must say I really enjoyed "Fate". Some Dahl´s influence, maybe? Congrats! Last paragraph´s a pass with flying colours, definitely! ;) It goes without saying that my choice is definitely "Fate".
Warm regards to you all,

Ignacio.

Me gusto "My best friend". Me parecio muy tierna la descripcion, es como que me puedo imaginar como es esa persona. "Fate" es una historia mas fria se podria decir.
Igual felicitaciones a los 2escritores, me gustaria poder escribir asi algun dia!!!

After enjoying both stories,I would choose "FATE". The transition in the paragraphs is smooth and the end makes you think!
I really like this type of stories.
Cheers, Guadalupe

I liked the first one because it´s a nice description about an important person for the writer.
On the other hand, the second story it´s okay but I read before, at least the beginning and the ending due to the fact that they are the topic for a writing task that i made last year...
But anyway, it´s ok...

Excellent blog... cheers!

Pablo, Ignacio, Mariela, Guadalupe, Aarce...Thank you so much for joining in!
Aarce, you´re right...some people asked me to "drop a hint" as they didn´t know how to start their writing! It´s usually hard to put ideas down in words, isn´t it?

Señor X dijo...

Yes of course, no doubt about it. The ones that can put their ideas together in a coherent way are the ones that can express freely and without strings in the future.

But it was shocking to see those words that i had already read. Anyway, both stories are excellent and thanks to this blog, they are able to be published and to be read.
